Article:   Guiding Light . . . The Bitch is Back! and she’s coming to the daytime soap ‘Guiding Light’

Dynasty Diva Joan Collins makes her daytime television debut this September when she joins the cast of Guiding Light. Internationally renowned as the shrewish Alexis Carrington, who wreaked havoc in the 1980s on the prime-time soap  “Dynasty”, will once again be stirring up trouble on CBS’ venerable daytime drama.

The prime-time prima donna will play Alexandra Spaulding, a character one daytime industry insider dubbed “your typical rich bitch’.  CBS’ Executive Producer Paul Rauch announced this forthcoming appointment to the long standing daytime drama which celebrates it’s 50th anniversary this year.  Shot on location in New York, Joan will play the role of a master manipulator engaged in an eternal battle with her on-screen brother Alan to control the helm of Spaulding Enterprises in the anything-goes town of Springfield.

“We are thrilled to have an actress of Joan’s caliber playing the role of Alexandra Spading”, said Paul Rauch.

”Alexandra is a vibrant and formidable woman and Joan’s talents are perfect for this character.”  Mary Alice Dwyer-Dobbin Executive-in-charge added “When we decided to bring back the character of Alexandra Spaulding, Joan was the first person on our wish list to play the sexy, no-nonsense businesswoman.  We couldn’t be happier to have an actress of her stature joining the cast of Guiding Light”.

The program has been the recipient of 54 Daytime Emmy Awards as well as numerous other industry accolades. Guiding Light is also the only daytime program inducted into the Soap Opera Hall of Fame.
